Queer Little House

Can anyone remember the words to the song "There's a Queer Little House" that Grandma Strong used to sing all the time?

You must have read my mind, Gordon; I was going to post that question today, but you beat me to it. I have spent the morning racking Mom and Dad's brains and this is what we have comeo up with:

There's a queer little house
And it stands in the sun,
When the good mother calls
The children all run.

In the daytime
this queer little house moves away,
And the children run after it
Happy and gay.

And they come back at night
And the children are fed,
And tucked up to sleep
In their warm cozy bed.

The story of this little house
Is quite true,
I have seen it myself
And I think you have too.

You can see it yourself
If you watch the old hen,
As her downy wings
Cover her chickens again.

There's a verse that talks about the house having no windows or doors or floors I think

I couldn't remember much of the song. But I also remember there being something about "no windows or doors"

I was just waiting for Dean to comment on the title of the song.I knew he couldn't remain silent for long...

I racked Mom and Dad's brain again and they did remember something like that, and this is what they came up with:

This queer little house
Has no windows or doors,
The roof has no shingles
The rooms have no floors.

No fireplace chimney
No stove can you see,
But the children are cozy
And warm as can be.
