What did Wayne build in the area where Dad now has his garden?

I remember an "Oil change" pit. I also remember that the first time he used it , he pulled the "55" red and white Buick over it that part of it collapsed. He built a wood frame to support the car , and used the pit for quite a while after that

Wow, I'd forgotten about that. Think some more.

Remember, Wayne built a basketball standard with two poles and a wooden backboard. Back then the garden area was just a bunch of weeds.

Acutally, Amy, the basketball standard you remember was the product of Kendell and his high school shop class. Your Dad built his standard to the south of the old chicken coop, right where the garden is now. He put up two poles side by side with a backboard made from tongue-and-groove boards. We had the weeds tromped down and the ground was packed down hard. We spent a lot of time shooting baskets there. We also made a high-jump pit in the same area. We all got to be pretty good high jumpers. We had two two-by-fours with nails driven in every inch. We would cut a fairly straight stick and set it on the nails even with each other. We then had a run path that we ran down and jumped over the stick-Good Times!
