I think I used that phrase a time or two when we would have a hard time getting to sleep at night. It almost never worked. It worked about as well then as it does now.
Me and Deanna used to do it about every night, but it seldom worked. She would even draw an imaginary line down the middle of the bed and say that I couldn't cross the line.
As I recall ... Dean and I shared a bed and Gordon and Glen Shared one. Dean and I would be still talking and laughing when Gordon was ready to go to sleep. He would ask us to be quiet ..... we couldn't . So it usually progressed like this. Gordon: "The next one to say anything will be had.... starting now! Kendell: "Anything.... Giggle" Gordon: "The next one to say anything or laugh will be had ... starting now" Kendell: "Whisper whisper" Gordon: " The next one to make a peep will be had starting now ...!" Kendell: "Peep" Then I would hear the covers flung aside and I would get pounded. It would be quiet for a minute or so.... then one of us would start to snicker .... and the process would start over again !
Those were fun times sharing a bedroom, I don't know how Gordon put up with us. Kendell also forgot to mention bringing apples and carrots to bed and crunching them while Gordon was trying to get to sleep. I feel sorry for kids who have their own rooms.
Wow, I'll bet everyone wishes they had Kendell and Dean as their younger brothers....at least they eat healthy in bed
