Yesterday after Deanna and I inventoried the kitchen at Mom's, Deanna took her recipe card file to look through. She called me today and wanted to know what this weird ingredient in a cookie recipe was. She said it was for Wheaties Cookies and was in my handwriting. The ingredient was 'spry'. Does anyone besides me know what that is?

I think that it was a kind of shortening?
I told you that you used to make Wheaties cookies!
You just wait until you are my age and you won't remember, either!
A kid never forgets the taste of a good cookie!!!
So, back in the "old days," shortening was supposed to make you spry? I thought it clogged your arteries and made you fat...silly me!
It's better than Lard!
Gordon, that is exactly what Brenda said, "It's better than lard." Great minds think alike.
